Friends Book Sales
Annual Book Sale
The Friends will hold their Annual Book Sale Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 9 am to 3 pm at the Library. More than 25,000 books will be available, at prices starting at just $1. Credit cards will be accepted for purchases of $10 or more. Breakfast and snacks will be available for purchase at the Biblio Bistro in the lobby. A Friends Member Only Preview Sale will be Friday, September 6, 2019 from 4:30 – 6:30 pm. Friends memberships may be purchased at the door.
Pricing for the sale is extremely competitive. Most hardcover books will be priced at $2 and pocket-sized paperbacks at $1. A special area will be devoted to high-value books such as antiquarian, art and photography, autographed books, and rare items. Pricing for the high-value books averages 30-50% lower than internet prices (Amazon, Bookfinder, etc.).
Proceeds of the book sale benefit the Friends, a separate 501c(3) affiliate of contributing members who support the Lewes Public Library. Proceeds are used for book and media purchases, library programming, special projects, and other Library needs.
The Friends are organizing volunteers to set-up, run, and clean up their Annual Book Sale during the week of September 3 -8.

Food and drink donations for the Sale’s Bibio Bistro also are needed. For more information and to sign, go here.
The Friends of the Lewes Public Library will accept book donations until they reach their storage capacity. A maximum of 6 individual books per donor will be accepted. We are NOT accepting boxes of books at this time.
The Friends will accept boxes of book donations after the fall sale starting on September 30, 2019. Thank you for your support!
Book Donation Policy
The Friends of the Lewes Public Library accepts gently used books, DVDs, and CDs to benefit the Library. Please see our acceptance guidelines below. Some of these donations are incorporated into the Library’s collection, while others are sold in the Friends’ book sale or in the Friends’ shop, Just Between Friends. Proceeds from the sales help pay for 100% of the books added to the Library’s collection, as well as many of the free programs offered.
Book donations are accepted at the Just Between Friends Shop from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday through Friday and Saturday from 10:00 am – 1:30 pm. When the Shop is closed, please check with the Library Circulation Desk for instructions.
If you have a large quantity of books to donate, please let us know that upon your arrival at the Library. These donations must be brought to the loading dock area of the Library facing Freeman Highway. A hand cart is available for moving the books.
Due to space limitations in the Library storage areas, we are no longer able to accept more 6 individual books from one person at any given time. Anyone wishing to donate items may bring in individual books or small bags of up to 6 books. We are NOT accepting boxes of books until after the Fall Book Sale, beginning September 30, 2019.
