All Delaware residents are eligible for a Delaware Library Card issued through their local public library. Registration includes completing a registration form and presenting a valid photo ID. If you do not have a Delaware photo ID, please contact your local library for card registration requirements. Children under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present for signature.

Delaware non-residents may apply for a non-resident card by submitting the registration form and a $25.00 fee to a member public library of the Delaware Library Catalog.

Non-resident property owners in the State of Delaware are eligible to receive a Delaware Library card. Please contact your local public library for registration requirements.

Academic and school Delaware Library Catalog member libraries require a valid student ID for library card registration.

To receive your new library card, please bring completed registration forms, your Delaware photo ID and/or alternative requirements to your local public library.

No matter where you apply for your card, your Delaware Library card works at all Delaware Public Libraries and for all online services.

  • A Non-Resident card is available for $25.00. It is valid for a year and allows full library use for patrons 18 yrs. or older, or with parental /legal guardian signature for patrons 17 yrs and younger.
  • A visitor card is valid for 30 days and is available for $10.00 for patrons 18 yrs. or older.  It includes borrowing privileges limited to 2 items at one time for a circulation period of one week.
  • A reference card is freely available for use of the internet for 3 log-ins within a year for patrons 18 yrs. and older.
  • Temporary cards valid for 3 months are available for adult Americorps volunteers, local seasonal police force, temporary military personel, visiting nurses from Beebe, temporary students from the College of Marine Studies, and residents of emergency shelters.

Yes. You need your library card number to use as your user ID and the PIN number that you received when you got your card. See the staff at the Circulation Desk if you have forgotten your PIN.
Yes. You can return items from any member library in the Delaware Library Catalog to any other member library within the State. If the item you wish to return was special ordered from a library outside of Delaware, it must be returned to the library that requested it for you.

Most items, including DVDs, can be borrowed for 3 weeks and renewed three times. Items on hold for other patrons cannot be renewed and, in certain cases, may be checked out for periods of less than 3 weeks. You can renew items at the Circulation Desk in the library, by phone, or on the Internet. Fines accrue daily for overdue items. All items are $.25 per day. Additional fines will be due for lost and damaged items. When fines on a library card reach $10.00, the patron may not borrow items or use library computers.
